Spacemen's Dinner and One Thousand Bowl Project

February 4, 2016

The Prak-sis Gallery hosted a space themed dinner event for the closing reception for Jae In Cho's 'Aglobe' series with 'Spacemen's Dinner with One Thousand Bowls Project'.

The front room of the gallery was transformed with black lights to create the sci-fi themed atmosphere.

 The Black Light.

The Spacemen's dinner under black light.

The meal consisted of various dishes made of ingredients that actual astronauts would consume before their departure to space.

Astronauts are advised to consume meals that consists low fiber diet inorder to minimize the need to use the restroom as it is difficult with no gravity.

The prelaunch breakfast for NASA astronauts began with Alan Shepard.

Alan Barlett "AI" Shepard Jr. (November 18, 1923 – July 21, 1998) was one of the original NASA Mercury Seven astronauts. In 1961 he became the second person and the first American to travel to space. Alan had steak and eggs for breakfast pre-flight, so most astronauts do today.

Some cocktails with colors from the Aglobe Series!

Mi-Yeon Kwon's One Thousand Bowls Project

The very small cups and plates go for $12 and other bowls range from $35~125 per piece. Mi-Yeon also wants to create more ceramic works with phosphorus glaze and may throw more black-light themed events. Coming soon!
