ANGELA HOJUNG JANG
Jang’s delicate landscapes and abstracted forms are incredibly derived from the modeling of thin, single use plastic bags. Her tightly rendered, realistic works mask the origin of her inspiration in plain sight. Photographed and digitally retouched, Jang then painstakingly recreates the compositions with oils on canvas. Working on a large scale, she is able to bring attention to a serious environmental plight as well as elevate the unnatural beauty of the work to a level above the physical realm.
